A member of Central Park Toastmasters – Joanne Godinho – recently received the “Best Business Woman of the Year” Award in Auckland at a gala dinner held at the Stamford Hotel on 15 November 2010. The Award was organised by India Newslink and TV3, and was presented to her by Labour Leader, Phil Goff. Also present at the dinner were Prime Minister John Key, Governor-General Shri Satyanand, Auckland City Mayor Len Brown and Indian High Commissioner Admiral Mehta, as well as a crowd of 600. In Joanne’s proud moment, and being caught unawares, she was able to address the crowd with a short speech – thanks to the training she received at Toastmasters. Joanne is one speech short of achieving her Competent Communicator Award through the Toastmasters Educational Programme. She has made huge strides in her communications skills, and Central Park Toastmasters are hugely proud of Joanne’s achievements. Congratulations Joanne!
