Contest Results

Meeting: Tuesday, 1 March 2016

Central Park Toastmasters held its 2016 Evaluation and International Prepared Speech contests on Tuesday 01/03/16.

We were pleased to have four eager contestants in the Evaluation contest: Jeremy, Phil, Eric and Clinton. This was particularly pleasing given the vital importance of a high evaluation standard in any club. Contests are a great way to lift those standards to new and improved levels which benefits not only our entrants but ultimately all our members.

There were two entrants in our prepared speech contest Phil and Eric, well done guys for making the effort and having a crack.

Marlene had done a great job assembling an experienced panel of judges. Marieke and Nadene did an equally good job of running the two contests with military precision.

We are pleased to announce that after some fierce competition to an incredibly high standard Clinton was victorious in the Evaluation and Phil won the Prepared contest, so they will both go forward to represent Central Park at the H4 Area contest on March 19th…..good luck guys!

Another action, fun packed meeting at the club where everyone was a winner. See you next meeting 15/03/16 where we will have a special guest……don’t miss out on this one!!!

Club Contest Success

Tuesday 11 February 2014

Kudos to all of our participants who took part in our club contests today.

Brenda, Eric and Jeremy competed in the Evaluation contest. Clinton, Ruth and Steve T competed in the International Speech contest (World Champion of Public Speaking).

Special congratulations to first-place-getters Brenda and Ruth in their respective sections. They will go onto represent the club at Area competitions.

Many thanks to our President Brenda, contest chair persons Marieke and Marlene, guest judges for helping us out and our guest speaker Kevin Weston for his inspiring story about determination and success (throwing cash into the audience as part of his opening act and breaking a wooden board with a classic karate chop were touches of brilliance).

Well done to all involved – see you pumped and ready for more at our next meeting in two weeks!

Club Contest – Evaluation, International Prepared Speech

Meeting – Tuesday 28th February 2012

Centralpark hosted their annual Evaluation and International Prepared Speech club contests.

Many thanks to Jo and Eric for chairing these contests.

Well done to Ben, Brenda, Clinton and Glenn L for competing. Clinton took top honours with his impressive international speech “It’s just a scar” and will live to tell his thrilling tales again when he represents at the Area contest. Ben will also go forward and compete in Evaluations. Congratulations!

Special thanks to our judges for sacrificing their sleep to be there early. Also special mention to Dave who had everyone in stitches with his test speech when he took on Glenn F’s challenge to talk about the office stapler. His speech was a laugh-out-loud classic from the Hire Quip office and should definitely be considered for the Humorous contest.

Once again – another meeting full of zest and inspired learning. What a way to kick off our Tuesday morning! See you all at the next meeting on Tuesday 13 March – bright and early.

Cheers!
